An Attitude Study on Identity Construction of Michelle Obama in Her Speeches in China

从评价系统中的态度资源角度,研究米歇尔·奥巴马2014年访华期间在北京和成都演讲的身份建构,对于准确理解跨文化话语有着非常重要的意义。研究发现,在跨文化话语中建构的身份是多重的、动态的,是演讲者的选择。多重身份中有稳定不变的身份,米歇尔始终将其代表美国价值观和意识形态的国家身份前景化。

The study of identity construction, from the perspective of attitude resource which is the most important sub-system of Appraisal Theory, in the speeches delivered by Michelle Obama in Beijing and Chengdu during her visit to China in 2014, is significant for the correct understanding of cross-cultural discourse. It has been found that the identities constructed in cross-cultural discourse are multiple, dynamic and are the choice of the speaker while there is always a stable identity for the speaker. For Michelle Obama, the stable identity is her national identity, representing the values and ideology of the US, foregrounded in the two speeches.
