As an African American woman, Toni Morrison's view of God is formed against the background of three cultures — American culture, black culture and women's culture. On the one hand, she inherits the core concepts of traditional Christianity like love and justice; on the other hand, she contests it as to the image of God. Morrison's view of God has remarkable features of black religion and feminist theology, which serves as a strategy of her political writing. It aims to restore a genuine God of harmony which represents genuine "justice" and "love", integrates individual and collective interest and goes beyond the boundary of race and sex.
