Wow! It is hard to believe 20 years have passed since Beijing hosted the United Nations （UN） Fourth World Conference on Women. That conference, the largest ever held by the UN, was held from September 4-15, 1995. Naturally China -- and the world -- is commemorating the anniversary of the event. Some 17,600 representatives from 189 countries or regions, UN organizations and various governmental and nongovernmental organizations attended the conference. In addition, more than 31,000 people participated in the conference＇s parallel meeting, the NGO Forum on Women, Beijing ＇95, which was held in Huairou, a suburb of Beijing, from August 31 to September 8, 1995.
1995年9月4日-15日，联合国第四次世界妇女大会在中国北京召开。本次大会是联合国历史上规模空前的一次盛会，来自189个国家和地区的政府代表以及国际组织、非政府组织代表共1．76万人出席会议，还有3万多人参加了世妇会的辅助性会议——95非政府组织妇女论坛。
