Deutsch's Theory on Psychopathology of Female Psychoanalysis

Helene Deutsch was the pioneer of the female psychoanalysis. The article systematically introduced Deutsch＇s unique theory of psychopathology. Firstly, it mainly focused on her views of psychopathology, stressed on the actual conflicts in the formation of neuroses, and the conception of ＂as-if＂ personality which was the result of the loss of object eathexis. Secondly, it deeply explored her views on psychoanalytic skills, described the ＂therapeutic alliance＂ that emphasized the collaboration between analyst and patients. Finally, it elaborated her views on the process of psychoanalytic treatment, explained some forms of resistance, such as intellectual or intellectualizing defense, turning to reality and turning inward to internal reality, and transference and acting out in analytic situation.
