The Features of the Industrial and Commercial Development in Hankou City before the Opium War

因明末清初农民起义战火的重创,汉口自明中期以来积累的卓著工商业成就转瞬灰飞烟灭,其社会经济发展在短期内遭受巨大挫折。鸦片战争前,通过当地商民戮力重建,汉口迅速发展到全盛阶段。汉口商镇的重新崛起不是简单的经济恢复,而是朝着社会经济结构更复杂层面演进,呈现出多元发展的特点。

Because of the peasant uprising in the late of Ming dynasty and the early Qing dynasty,the flourishing industry and commerce in Hankou city,developing from the middle of the Ming dynasty,was destroyed and the social economic development suffered blows in the short period of time.Before the Opium War,Hankou city was developed rapidly with the effort of the local people.The new-estab-lishment of Hankou was not only the economic recovery,but also the sophisticated evolution of the social economic structure with the features of diverse development.
