《茶馆》英译本中语气词“呢”的翻译研究

Study on the Translation of Modal Particle“ ne” in the Dram—Teahouse in English Version

《茶馆》是老舍先生最具代表性的话剧之一。本文以系统功能语言学为理论依据,以老舍的中文剧本《茶馆》和英若诚英译本《茶馆》为对比语料,考察了英若诚在翻译语气词"呢"时的翻译策略,并从英汉语气系统的差异、英汉语疑问句等级的对应以及语气词"呢"的情态意义和语篇意义三个方面探讨了翻译背后的动因。

Teahouse is the representative of Laoshe＇s plays.This thesis,based on systemic functional linguistics,attempts to make a research of Chinese modal particle ＂ne＂ in the Ying Ruocheng＇s English version of Teahouse.It is aimed at investigating some strategies of translating ＂ ne＂ and also exploring into some motivations underlying translator＇s rendering.It is concluded that difference of Chinese and English modal systems,the correspondence between Chinese and English grades of interrogative sentences,and interpersonal and contextual meanings of medal particle ＂ ne＂ are three principal motivations behind English translation.
