摘要
《隐形的子弹》一文是格林布拉特新历史主义批评的代表性论文,但一直以来,他在文中提出的批评假设和使用的批评方法的洞见和盲视还没有得到充分的讨论。从这两个层面来重新审视格林布拉特的这篇代表作,一方面从批评假设的层面厘清它关于文艺复兴时期权力的颠覆与抑制模式的术语之间的关系以及现代早期文化中权力及冲突之间动态结构的关系,另一方面,从操作的层面揭示它逸闻主义式论证方法的有效性和缺陷。如此,在文学批评新的范式转换之际,才能更明确应如何继承与发展"新历史主义"。
"Invisible Bullets" is arguably Greenblatt's most important new historicist practice. However, the insights and blindness in his critical assumptions and methodology have not been adequately dis- cussed. This essay thus attempts to rethink Greenblatt's new historicism through "Invisible Bullets" both theoretically and practically. On the one hand, it clarifies the subversion/containment mode he pro- posed in relation to each other, to the dynamics of power, and to the conflict in renaissance culture~ on the other hand, it reexamines the anecdotism Greenblatt used to present his arguments to determine its validity and reveal its blindness. Thus we will be in a better position to assess the legacy of new histori- cism in a time of paradigm shift.
