异中求同:重看《东方杂志》与《新潮》的办刊理念论争

Seeking Harmony while Keeping Differences:Revisiting the Debate on Periodicals'Philosophy between The Eastern Miscellany and The Renaissance

《东方杂志》与《新潮》自创刊便秉承不同的办刊理念。1919年,两刊就办刊理念问题展开论争。这种论争实质上源自新文化运动中不同思想阵营对话语权的争夺。但是,两个阵营的文化主张都以机械进化论为视角,在不同程度上昭示了现代中国知识分子的群体性格缺陷。

Since their publication The Eastern Miscellany and The Renaissance have adopted different phi-losophy. In 1919, the two periodicals had a fierce debate on this issue. This debate in essence has origi- nated from the ideological struggle for the discourse right since the New-culture movement. However, both of the two periodicals have adopted the perspective in accordance with the mechanical theory of evo- lution, thus reflecting the character defects of modern Chinese intellectuals.
