History and the Modernity of China—— Take Li Dazhao's Historiography Thought As an Example

中国现代史学通过给中国人提供一种进化史观,对于中国现代思想史乃至中国现代史有重要的影响。李大钊是一个调和论者,主张保守和进步、东洋文明和西洋文明不可偏废。但最终还是进化论使他接受了马克思主义,成为一个主张以革命来解决问题的革命者。尽管如此,他还是社会进化论思想的批判者。他从社会和文化上来理解时间,使得他能以释义学的态度来理解历史事实。李大钊在任何时候都不是一个教条主义者。

The modern Chinese science of history plays an important role in the modern thought of China, even in the history of modern China by providing the Chinese an evolutionary view of history. Li Dazhao was initially not an evolutionist, but harmonist claiming to keep balance between conservation and revolution, the Eastern culture and the Western culture. Finally, however, evolutionary theory makes him to accept Marxism and become a revolutionary. Even so, he is still a criticizer of social theory of evolution. From his cultural and social view of time he understands historical facts hermeneutically. In any time, he is not a dogmatist.
