Objective To analyze fasting blood glucose( FPG) level of the examination population in Shangcheng district,Hangzhou,so as to provide reference for the management of chronic diseases and health problem intervention. Methods FPG level of 16 213 samples from the examination population in the above mentioned area during 2014 was measured via the Hexokinase method, results were statistically analyzed based on different gender and age groups. Results The hyperglycemia percentage in the total population was 33. 63%,in which impaired fasting glucose( IFG) and suspicious diabetes mellitus were 20. 22% and13. 41%,respectively. Average level of FPG increased in an age- dependent manner, but also it was significantly higher among males than among females, and the difference had statistical significance( P〈0. 01). The IFG percentage among males in the age group of 41- 50,51- 60 and 61- 70 was significantly higher than that of the females in the same age group, and the difference had statistical significance( P〈0. 05). Besides,a significantly higher percentage of suspicious diabetes mellitus was observed among the males less than 60 than that of the females in the same age group, and the difference had statistical significance( P〈0. 01). Conclusion The average FPG level as well as the percentage of hyperglycemia of the examination population in this region were higher than those in other reported regions. It is necessary to advocate a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle via health management programs.
