Reading, which is a basic mean and an important way for mankind to acquire knowledge and information,can help to improve the national quality, is also a knowledge inheritance and a culture continuation. From four aspects,this paper analyzes the changes of the public reading, discusses the impact of the ＂ shallow reading＂, and probes into how should the library to deal with the negative effects of＂ shallow reading＂ and actively promote public reading.
