Resources of ornamental variety of Chaenomeles L.in Japan

木瓜属(Chaenomeles L.)树种日本现有栽培分布种4种,其中原始分布种1种。园艺品种200余个,主要来自皱皮木瓜[Chaenomeles speciosa(Sweet)Nakai]、日本木瓜[Chaenomeles japonica(Thunb.)Lindl.ex Spach.]及两者的种间杂交种。观赏栽培用途为盆栽、庭院树、公园或绿地景观树、切花、篱垣等。园艺品种花形、花色、枝干、叶片以及果实观赏性状变异丰富。共记录120个品种的主要性状、出处和中文参考译名,并附有日文罗马拼音以方便查对。

In Japan, the species in the genus Chaenomeles included four cultivated species and one wild species. There were more than 200 ornamental varieties, which mainly from Chaenomeles speciosa （Sweet） Nakai, Chaenomelesjaponica （Thunb.） Lindl. ex Spach and hybrids of them. Ornamental culture included potting, courtyard, landscape, cut-flower, fence walls, etc. Horticultural varieties showed a wide range of variation, including flower shape, flower colour, branch,leaf and fruit traits. The main characters, sources, references and Chinese translations of 120 varieties were recorded. The spelling of Roman alphabet in Japanese is supplemented for checking.
