Developing rehabilitation medicine right on time

中国康复医学的发展机遇与挑战并存。一方面,由于人口老龄化、意外事故高发、经济发展及医疗水平提高,人们对康复需求大量增加;另一方面,我国康复医学整体有所发展,但与发达国家相比仍有差距。为此,我们要制定支持性政策,提高康复医学教育水平,加大科研投入,加强专业人才培养,发展具有中国特色的康复医学。

Rehabilitation medicine has both faced challenges and opportunities in recent years in China. Owing to the aging population, high incidence of accidents, improved level of national economy and health care, the demand for rehabilitation medicine is increasing more and more. The domestic rehabilitation medicine has made some progress. Nevertheless, compared with developed nations, there are still certain gaps between the two. Thus, making supportive policiesimproving teaching quality of rehabilitation medicine and increasing scientific research fund, as well as strengthening professional personnel training are important ways to develop the Chinese-style rehabilitation medicine.
