英语委婉语的功能与效果研究

Research on the Function and Effect of English Euphemism

在社会不断发展的过程中,人类互相来往需要语言的支持,才能达到交流和沟通的目的。但是,如果语言运用得不恰当、语气不够委婉等,则会引起很多不必要的误会或者造成某些伤害,使得交际双方的关系受到影响,因此,通过委婉的方式将所要表达的意思传递出来,是人们日常生活和工作的重要需求。基于此,就委婉语及其特点进行概述,提出英语委婉语的功能与效果,以充分发挥委婉语的社会功能,促进社会发展更加和谐。

In the process of social development, interaction among human beings needs the lingual support to realize the goal of communication. However, improper use of language and tone can give rise to unnecessary misunderstanding and hurt, affecting the re- lationship between communicators. Therefore, it is an important demand to convey the meaning by means of euphemism. This paper in- troduces euphemism and its features and proposes the function and effect of euphemism in order to give the social function of euphemism into full play and promote social harmony.
