This paper makes an analysis of King Wu's sword bearing 74-charater inscription which has just been collected by Suzhou Museum, followed by the conclusion that Wu King Yumei was the owner of the object, the events mentioned in the message took place during the period of Wu King Yuji who was Yumei's elder brother, and that the five battles respectively cast in both Wu King Yumei's sword and the one unearthed from Luxun Road of Shaoxing Town mean differently. Besides it holds the same opinion that Wu King Yuji was on the throne for four years while Wu King Yumei for 17 years as is printed in Chūn Qiū, or called The Spring and Autumn Annals in English, but points out the mistakes about the regime periods of them each included in the historical record of Shǐjì · Wú Shìjiā which is the biography of the Wu aristocratic family. It finally introduces Mr Qiu Xigui's view that it should be strictly avoided to place the records on unearthed bamboo and silk that are actually different from those of handed-down archives in the same category or otherwise.
