Objective To study the effect of metabolic syndrome (MS) on the severity and quality of life in patients with psoriasis vulgaris. Methods 127 patients were selected in the study, 49 patients with MS and 78 patients without MS. Age, blood pressure, blood lipids, fasting blood glucose, liver and kidney function, blood lipids full and BMI of the patients were recorded. Calculated the psoriasis area and severity index (PASI) in all patients, the quality of life was evaluated by the dermatology life quality index (DLQI). Compared PASI and DLQI between the two groups of patients. Results Psoriasis pa-tients with MS was more serious than the other patients. The number of patients with MS whose PASI was more than 20 in MS group was larger than those without MS, and patients with 0〈PASI≤10 was less than those without MS. In addition, the number of patients with severe and very severe effect on the quality of life in MS group was more than the group without MS. And pa-tients without effect or mild effect on the quality of life in MS group was less than the group without MS. Conclusion MS can aggravate the severity of skin lesions in patients with psoriasis , seriously affect the quality of life of patients.
