The Bible is one of the two major sources of Western literature. Relying on the story of Paul, August Strindberg created the first expressionism drama： The road to Damascus. The author used many images in The Bible. The protagonist in The road to Damascus is a small potato in the real life, at the same time Cain, Jacob, and the God. The road to Damascus not only has thematic significance of expressionism but also has the meaning of reli- gion. Relying on the biblical story of Paul, it expressed the untiring pursuit of the soul fate, which is an inspiration and encouragement for the struggling people.
