摘要
晚清域外游记出现诸多对西方现代事物的"命名",从"无名"的谜面式描述,到"有名"的词语指称,从颇具模糊性、想象性的自造词命名到客观精确的词语命名,命名活动既是一种词语运动,意味着明确指向现代事物的、多音节的现代汉语词汇纷纷登场,也是一种精神衍变,表征了命名者精神结构,以及社会总体意识的变迁。
