玛丽琳·罗宾逊的《家园》聚焦家庭伦理,呈现了情境中心与个人中心两种不同的思维方式之间的冲突。首先家庭要求成员以情境为中心采用统一的道德标准,这种一致性体现在信仰、经济、种族等各个层面。而作为抹除思想差异性的补偿,家庭为成员提供保护和慰藉。与此同时,罗宾逊指出现代人的个体离心倾向破坏了家庭的均质性,家庭伦理遭遇的现代性挑战阻止人们到达理想中的"乐园"。
Home by Marilynne Robinson focuses on family ethics and presents the clash between the two ways of life： situation centered and individual centered. First of all, the family requires its members＇ taking the same ethical criteria, embodying themselves on all levels such as belief, economy and race. To compen- sate for the loss of personal ideals, the family provides its members with protection and comfort. At the same time, Robinson points out that individual centrifugality destroys the homogeneous family. The modem chal- lenge against family ethics deprives people of the ideal ＂paradise. ＂
