The Penname Connotation of ＂Huanzhu Louzhu＂ and a Research into Its Development Time

目前学界对还珠楼主写作的旷世武侠奇书《蜀山剑侠传》的研究方兴未艾，但人们关注的重点多在文本，而忽视对其生平的考证与探究。文章在史料基础上，对“还珠楼主”这一笔名的寓意与出现时间进行考辨，首次提出“还珠楼主”笔名寓意是为纪念两位使其产生情感波澜的女子；并进而考证出其笔名不是为写作《蜀山剑侠传》而起，更非1932年7月首次面世，而是早在1930年春夏之时便已出现于报端。

Academic studies into The Story of a Swordsman from Shushan, an incomparable martial arts novel by Huanzhu Louzhu, is in the ascendant. However, people focus more on the novel and ignore the research into the novelist＇s lifetime. Based on historical records, the paper proposes for the first time that the penname connotation of ＂Huanzhu Louzhu＂ is to commemorate two women who were involved in the novelist＇s love stories. Further research shows that the penname was neither created for writing The Story of a Swordsman from Shushan, nor emerged in the July of 1932. It appeared in the newspaper during the spring and summer of 1930.
