【歌剧内容】年老的国王多顿,为国家的命运惴惴不安。这时,有占卜者献上一只金鸡,可以预报国家的旦夕祸福。国王大喜,答应满足占卜者所提出的任何要求。一天,金鸡狂啼,国王方知王子所率军队败于舍玛哈女王之手。乃御驾亲征,才知道两个儿子是为了争夺女王,互相残杀而死。国王夜晚至女王帐前,见女王风姿擅舞,一见倾心,聘为王后,凯旋而归。这时,占卜者到来,索取女王为报酬。国王大怒,欲杀占卜者。此时,金鸡跃出,啄死国王,其时雷电交加,金鸡和女王皆隐去。
The Golden Cockerel is an opera in three acts,with a short prologue and an even shorter epilogue,by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.The libretto by Vladimir Belsky is based on Alexander Pushkin's 1834 poem The Fairy Tale of the Little Golden Cockerel,which in turn is adapted from two chapters of Washington Irving's Tales of the Alhambra.The opera was completed in 1907 but premiered two years later in Moscow,after the composer's death.
