在中国陶瓷工艺史上,吉州窑陶瓷的器形与装饰艺术独树一帜,并对我国陶瓷艺术发展作出过卓越贡献。其发展变化既受时代政治、文化、宗教及工艺的影响,更与世风民俗、时人审美意识等诸多因素有关系,如初创期的越窑、洪州窑影响,发展期的单色釉瓷时尚和斗茶习俗需求,鼎盛期的南北工艺融合及大胆自主创新,衰落期的时代风尚变迁与景德镇窑崛起等,这都是吉州窑陶瓷器形与装饰艺术的变化成因。

With its unique shape and decorative arts, Jizhou Kiln made great contributions in the history of China＇s chinaware arts. The evolution of its arts had much to do with the historical, cultural, religious backgrounds and technique situations, and more with social customs, aesthetic preferences of that time. At beginning, it was under influences of famous kilns such as Yue Yao Kiln and Hongzhou Kiln, then it developed a single-color glazing for tea-culture needs. At its flourishing period, Jizhou kiln created a style which integrated the advantages of southern and northern kilns and with remarkable innovations. In its declining period, Jizhou Kiln underwent impacts of Jingdezhen Kiln styles. Those factors made up motivations for the evolution.
