Qiwang and the High Tang Poetry

唐开元、天宝间,国富民安,士大夫宴饮唱和蔚然成风。以皇族为首,形成诸多文学唱和群体。其中以岐王李范为核心,以阎朝隐、王维、崔颢等为羽翼的文人群体尤为注目。岐王奖掖诗人,提供诗歌唱和的场合与契机,繁荣诗坛,群体成员在律诗的发展和宴饮唱和应景诗模式的形成中成就尤著。

The Kaiyuan, Tianbao periods of the Tang Dynasty witnessed flourishing social life. The noblemen and government officials were so keen on poetry that they formed lots of poetry groups. Qiwang group was one of the most important groups at that time. Yan Zhaoyin, Wang Wei and Cui Hao were all the group members. Qiwang provided places and opportunities for the poets and awarded them. To some degree, he enriched the poetry circle. And the poems they made helped the development of Lv and Occasional verses.
