《奇妙的工作》自发表以来已经得到了多角度的解读。小说体现了对日本战后现代经济增长体系的批判。小说将杀狗和人之自我被扼杀放在同一过程中进行叙述。分析作品中杀狗这一过程就会发现这部小说描写的是二战后不断膨胀的日本现代经济增长体系对人性的扼杀。响彻小说头尾的犬吠声正是对战后日本经济增长体系的批判。

The Kimyou na Shigoto has been interpreted from different perspectives since its publication. The novel criticizes modern economic system expansion after the second world war. The narration of dog-killing is intertwined with the narration of self-destruction to depict the anti-humanity voilence of the expanding modern economic system. The economic developing system is put on trial by the resounding dog barking from the beginning to the end of the work.
