Scholars tend to compare Cao Yu, praised as ＂Chinese Shakespeare＂, with Shakespeare, the great dramatist in the English Renaissance. This essay will discuss the complex relationship of influence and the acceptation between Shakespeare and Cao Yu from characterization for a better understanding and evaluation of artistic values in Cao Yu＇s play scripts more accurately.
