On the Function and Adaptation Properties of Vagueness as a Pragmatic Strategy

基于Verschueren提出的顺应理论框架对模糊语作为语用策略的现象进行分析和探讨。回顾和总结模糊语的以往研究进展,并对模糊语语用策略的类型与功能做了相应的论述。模糊语的选用是语言使用者语用策略在物理世界、社交世界、心理世界相互顺应的结果。

This paper first surveys the past research of vagueness from the different viewpoints and makes a conclusion the types and functions of pragmatic vagueness. The author concludes that vagueness is actually the outcomes of linguistic choices interadaptable with language users＇ mental world, social world and physical world.
