This study explored the development way of leisure sports in China by the methods of literature review and induction and deduction in sociology. This paper analyzed the main points and conditions of "late-development advantage"theory and concluded that leisure sports started early but developed slowly in China. "Late-development advantage"theory can be used in China leisure sports research and provide countermeasures for planning and designing China leisure sports development. Conclusions: Late-development advantages of China leisure sports development are efficient capital utility, large space by policy change, low cost of technology imitation, convenience brought by industrial transferring in the economic structure adjustment and public goods in globalization perspective. And the main disadvantages of late-development need more accurate self-positioning. The quality and quantity of participators are the bottlenecks of present leisure sports development. This paper suggested that more exerting the dominant role of market, increasing technology imitation, speeding up management innovation, developing Chinese characteristics, and culturing specialized and high level talents should be noticed in the development process of China leisure sports. Leisure sports has broad prospect in China and its"late-development status"should become "late-development advantage".
