中华传统文化有什么样的当代价值,是当今中国学人关注的重要问题。新石器时代以来,华夏大地上就存在多个文化系统,几千年来往来不绝,彼此互渗,"和而不同""交而遂通"。在思想文化发展上,春秋时期经历了百家争鸣,儒道两家脱颖而出;两汉之际佛教传入,兴盛于南北朝,至唐代已成儒释道三教并立之势。经两宋期间进一步互通消融,终于形成宋明理学的儒学新高峰,并泽被邻邦。近代西学东渐,遭遇三千年未有之变局,同时涌现现代新儒家等硕果。中华文化之所以"亘古亘今"、绵延不断,就在于有着"和而不同,交而遂通"的品质。一方面,和而不同,既保持自身独立性,亦尊重他者合理性;另一方面,交而遂通,积极对话与沟通,互相学习,互为滋养。简言之,即多元、共存、接纳、欣赏,这正是中华传统文化为今人、为世界贡献的优秀价值。

The values of traditional Chinese culture have emerged as a focal point of discussion among modern Chinese scholars. From Neolithic era on, there existed several cultural systems in China. They associated and permeated with each other, resulting in harmony but no uniformity, unity and then success. Through the development of intellectual culture, a hundred schools of thought contended during the Spring and Autumn periods, while Confucianism and Daoism rose above others. Buddhism was first introduced during the Western and Eastern Han dynasties,then thrived in Northern and Southern dynasties, and finally formed a tripartite balance with Confucianism and Daoism. With the integration and fusion, Neo-Confucianism became prominent during the Song and Ming dynasties and further influenced the neighborhood. After the introduction of the West, modern China has experienced unprecedented changes, but sprung up a large number of confucianists. The reason why traditional Chinese culture has a continuous history lies in this ＂harmony but not uniformity,unity and then success＂quality. On the one hand,＂harmony but not uniformity＂supports a diversified existence and deems the integration and harmonious coexistence of different forms of cultures, on the other hand, ＂unity and then success＂promotes positive communication and mutual learning between each other. To put it briefly,diversity,compatibility,acceptance and appreciation are the excellent values contributed by traditional Chinese culture.
