False Theory: Chen Qimei was the Chief instigator of Assassinating Song

陈其美主谋杀宋说系"刺宋案"发生后,在国民党人与袁世凯政府激烈斗争过程中,由袁世凯一方、应夔丞及其党徒,以及支持政府的《国报》等共同罗织、构陷而成,而后又经袁世凯之子袁克文于《辛丙秘苑》中杜撰情节,从而为一些不明内情者所信。袁世凯一方构陷陈其美的目的,是为了应对"刺宋案"发生后国民党对政府的攻击;应夔丞及其党徒陷害陈其美的目的,是为了讨好政府,从而寻找机会脱罪;袁克文杜撰情节的目的,则是为了证明其父并非杀宋幕后主使。由于各方动机不纯,各种所谓陈其美杀宋的"证据",极尽猜测、虚构之能事,完全与事实不符。

This theory occurred after the assassination, when KMT was engaged in furious conflict against Yuan＇s government. It was made up by Yuan, Ying and his followers, and ＂National Newspaper＂ supported by government. Then Yuan Kewen, son of Yuan, made up more details and printed it on ＂Xin Bing Mi Yuan＂, which made some people who were not aware of the truth begin to believe that Chen Qimei was the chief instigator in this case. Yuan did this to relieve KMT＇s attack on his government after this case. Ying and his followers did this to ingratiate them to Yuan＇s government and be exempt from punishment. Yuan Kewen made up those details just to prove that his father was not the chief instigator in this case. So-called evidences of Chen Qimei killing Song came from different sources with various motivations, full of imaginary, and was completely inconsistent with the fact.
