GCL: The king of silicon

在徐州市开发区杨山路上,随处可见标着蓝绿色LOGO及＂GCL＂字样的工厂。这些工厂都隶属于同一个公司——协鑫（集团）控股有限公司（以下简称＂协鑫＂）。如今,这条路已经被当地政府命名为＂协鑫大道＂。

In the development district in Yuzhou city you can see the green and blue letters 'GCL' everywhere on the buildings and factories. These factories all belong to Golden Concord Holdings Limited. In fact, the company's presence here is so big that the local government has even changed the road running through the district to 'GCL Avenue.'GCL is China's largest non-state-owned green energy company and the worlds largest photovoltaic materials manufacturer. Its reach extends into the power, photovoltaic, natural gas and other power related sectors.Two of the factories here are the biggest of their kind in the world. One belongs to GCL subsidiary Jiangsu Zhongneng Polysilicon Technology Development, while the other belongs to Jiangsu GCL Silicon Material Technology Development. With only a single wall separating them, the former is the world's largest polysilicon manufacturer while the latter is the world's largest silicon chip prowider.
