The popularity of New Media among university students has catered to the changes of aspiring equality and communication in young students＇ minds. As New Media is changing the lifestyle and study style of university students, it simultaneously brings new oppor- tunities and challenges for ideological and political education in tertiary education. Therefore, universities should be proficient in the rules of the New Media, scientifically use and manage the platform of New Media, and subsequently show its positive power to ideological and political education. Only if ideological and political education in tertiary education confronts the challenges can it create more vitality, which will provide strong mental motivation and reliable political guarantee for the development of national education as well as cultivation of talents.
