In the Taoism novels in the late period of Tang and Five dynasties, there were a series of images of drunk immortals. All of them indulged in liquor, behaved boldly and just lived in the secular world. They looked dnmk, crazy, but actually they taught and warned people in the way of contrast to traditional custom. Under the appear- ance of their religious implication, these drunk immortals conveyed the profound reflection and criticism to social reality, these images had a unique aesthetic meaning.
