加拿大华人社区非政府组织功能探究

An Inquiry into the Functions of Nongovernmental Organizations in Chinese Canadian Communities

加拿大华人社区非政府组织是华侨华人团结互助、对抗种族歧视、谋求更好发展的重要组织形式,其发展大致经历了初创、发展、提升三个阶段。在参与加拿大社会治理、华人社区建设及服务、加强社区和谐、维护华侨华人合法权益、传播中华优秀传统文化、帮助华人移民尽快融入加拿大社会、鼓励华侨华人参政议政等方面,充分发挥其各种功能,做了大量细致而有效的工作,也为中国非政府组织的健康发展提供了有益的启示。

Nongovernmental organizations （NGOs） in Chinese Canadian communities are important approaches for overseas Chinese to work in unity, help each other, oppose racial discrimination, and seek for better development. Their development normally will experience three stages： establishment, development and advancement. The NGOs have made lots of careful and effective efforts in social governance and community construction and service. They help to strengthen community harmony, maintain Chinese traditional culture, help new immigrants＇ integration into Canadian society, and promote overseas Chinese＇ s participation in Canadian political life. Meanwhile, they can offer great inspira- tion to the healthy development of China＇ s NGOs.
