There is an indispensable role of non-metallic mineral materials in the application of friction material, because of its unique physical and chemical properties.This paper instructed the basic performances and classification of non-metallic mineral materials, and the basic requirements of main raw materials used in the friction material. In addition, combined with the actual production of friction material, the application and quality control of several non-metallic mineral materials in fi＇iction materials were introduced, there is a guiding significance for application of these non-metallic materials.
