The identity of Howard Goldblatt as a glocal Chimerican in cultural and translational senses is the key to a better understanding of the disputes of various kinds over Goldblatt＇s translation. Underlying these disputes,which are also insights into Goldblatt,are four broad categories of questions：（ 1） Is Goldblatt translating the author or re-presenting himself？（ 2） What is his socio-cultural posture in an era of literature marginalization and market domination？（ 3）What is the tension between his translation and theorizing？（ 4） And how should he be positioned and evaluated in literary translation？ The discussions may lead to a fruitful rethinking of the all-in-one-package question arising in the＂going global＂of Chinese literature： who is supposed to translate what for whom in what way at what time？
