摘要
葛浩文具有文化和翻译意义上的glocal Chimerican身份。这一身份对认识围绕葛浩文的种种论争至关重要。本文以围绕葛译的重大论争或问题为切入点,把葛译这一研究对象问题化,重点论述葛浩文"我译"与"译我"的辩证关系、文化姿态与"市场"要素、理论反思与自我实践的张力,以及葛浩文的意义、定位与评估。厘清这些问题有助于思考中国文学"走出去"所必须应对的"谁在译、该谁译、该译谁、为谁译、如何译以及何时译"这一宏大课题。
The identity of Howard Goldblatt as a glocal Chimerican in cultural and translational senses is the key to a better understanding of the disputes of various kinds over Goldblatt's translation. Underlying these disputes,which are also insights into Goldblatt,are four broad categories of questions:( 1) Is Goldblatt translating the author or re-presenting himself?( 2) What is his socio-cultural posture in an era of literature marginalization and market domination?( 3)What is the tension between his translation and theorizing?( 4) And how should he be positioned and evaluated in literary translation? The discussions may lead to a fruitful rethinking of the all-in-one-package question arising in the"going global"of Chinese literature: who is supposed to translate what for whom in what way at what time?
