The Internet's Impact on the Political Trust and Values:An Empirical Study Based on CGSS2010 Data

民众使用互联网对政治信任产生了影响,互联网使用频率越高,民众的政治信任感会显著地更低。这一现象可以从互联网使用对价值观影响上得到解释。互联网使用使得民众趋向于自我表达价值观,具体表现为,互联网使用频率越高,民众的公平感、政治参与意识、公民意识、环境意识会越强,更强调政府责任,更能宽容、平等对待他人的行为等等。自我表达价值观增强是互联网使用降低政治信任的中间机制,自我表达价值观的增强降低了政治信任。

China has enjoyed a high level of political trust which is attributed to ideological control, government performance as well as the compliance to traditional culture. However, with the rise of Internet, the phenome- non that people use the Internet frequently has exerted a great effect on political trust which means that the more people use the Internet, the less political trust there will be. This can be explained by the changes of the values caused by the use of Internet. Using the Internet more makes it more likely to form self - expression values. Specifically, it means that the more frequently people use the Internet, the stronger people＇s sense of fairness, awareness of participation and civic consciousness as well as the environmental awareness will be. They stress more on government responsibility and tend to be more tolerant and equal toward others. The increased self- expression values are the intervening mechanism between the Internet and political trust. In other words, the strengthened self - expression values has decreased political trust.
