According to the revelation from Todorov＇s theory of narrative grammar ,we can find that in La Vie Tranquille the external events and the change of＂my＂ heart of the hero,form respectively balance structure,which constitutes the surface structure of the text. And accordingly,the deep structure of the text can be described as fol-lows：how did the hero ＂I＂ pursue the quiet life in storm. The answer to this question is closely related to two points,one is the obvious ＂ three deaths＂ expressed in the text,another is the image feature of me and Clement. With the help of the skill of Homodiegetic,＂I＂show a wise and strong character from the inside to outside which is the important factor that how ＂I＂ could persevere in difficulty,and the final success ＂I＂ could get was associated with the guidance from wise Clement.
