商务翻译中的语境顺应研究

A Study on Context Adaptation in Business Translation

商务翻译是一种复杂交际行为,涉及具体语境中的一系列语言选择过程。本文采用案例和对比分析方法,运用语境顺应理论对比分析2012年中石化总裁致辞的中英文版本,重构译者选择过程,探讨商务翻译中语言语境、情景语境和文化语境顺应问题。研究表明:商务翻译以实现跨语言、跨文化语用等效为目标,构建功能充分、文化适切的目标文本,涉及特定语境中复杂而多层次的选择和动态顺应过程。运用语境顺应理论不仅有助于探讨语言、情景和文化等语境因素对翻译的影响,而且有助于探讨译者通过认知过程将语境内化为翻译选择的依据,实现对翻译语境的动态顺应过程,更全面解释商务翻译过程与实质。

Business translation is a complex activity of communication that involves a continuous linguistic selection on the translator＇s part in specific contexts. Based on the context adaptation theory of pragmatics, this paper makes a comparative analysis on the Chinese and English version of the chairman＇s statement of Sinopec of 2012 with an aim to reconstruct the translator＇s selection process and explore the adaptations of linguistic, situational and cultural contexts. It is concluded that business translation, ai- ming at pragmatic equivalence, involves complex and muhilayered selection and adaptation in specific contexts. The selection of business translation strategies is a process of dynamic adaptation to contexts for a functionally adequate and culturally appropriate target text. The context adaptation theory does not merely help to explore the effect of such contextual factors as language, situa- tion and culture on business translation, but also contribute to explaining how the translator internalize contexts into selection ba- sis and realize dynamic adaptation, thus expounding the process and nature of business translation.
