On Affect Analysis of the Text by Appraisal Theory— Take Last Orders and As I Lay Dying for Example

格雷厄姆·斯威夫特的小说《杯酒留痕》被视为福克纳小说《我弥留之际》的复制品,因为它们在叙事风格、情节和主题方面有许多相似之处,都是描写送葬和死亡的小说,但却是两个风格完全不同的作品。本文借鉴评价理论中有关情感要素的研究成果,通过手动数据统计分析两部小说的主要人物,揭示这两部作品之间的本质差异。

Last Orders by Graham Swift is considered to be the copy of Faulkner＇s As I Lay Dying, since there are many similarities between them in the way of narration, plot and theme. Both of them are about death and funeral ceremony, but actually they are totally different in style. This paper aims to prove the differences in style through the personalities and fate of the main characters in two novels by using the factor of affect in Appraisal Theory.
