English-Chinese Translation in Terms of Ecology

用生态学视角看待英汉翻译,为的是建立一种整体性思维。生态学视域下的译者不是对原文本亦步亦趋的"传声筒",译文本积极地参与原文本的意义生成,它与原文本共生共存、交互解读,共同服务于作品价值的生成和阅读消费。政治、经济、文化、主流价值观等因素共同组成译文本的生态环境,只有适应这环境的这些因子,译文本才能最终实现价值。生态学视域下的翻译观使翻译不再拘泥归化异化之争,而是从追求对两种语言生态环境的适应去达到原文本和译文本两个文本圈的整体平衡。生态学的整体和谐观引入到社会科学领域,对英汉翻译工作具有重大指导意义。

To discuss English-Chinese translation in terms of ecology is to build up the thoughts of integrity. The translators in terms of ecology are not the mouthpieces following the original texts; instead, they participate actively in the production of the meanings of the original texts and co-exist and mutually interpret with the texts to serve together the generation of the values and the reading consumption of the work. The ecological environment of the translation, made up of politics, economy, culture, mainstream values, will play an insignificant role in the realization of the terminal values of the translation. This concept of translation help translators not rigidly adhere to the standards concerning domestication and foreignization ; and it is in pursuit of the whole balance between the original text and translated text in adaption of the ecological language environment. The introduction of the idea of integrity of translation into the social science will be of great importance in translation between English and Chinese.
