The amount of morphological variation among three Pacific cod populations (100 individuals) was de- termined by multivariate analysis of 11 meristic traits and 24 morphological variables. From three geographically distinct areas the specimens were collected. Several statistical analyses were performed, which included principal component analysis (PCA), cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA and discriminate analysis. The discrimination accuracy was 79.2 % - 100 % among three populations, in which Qingdao population showed 100 % accuracy. The average discriminate accuracy was 88%. The value of the parameters and the cumulative contribution rate of eight principal components was 81.72 ~/6. Scatter plots of scores on the first and second morphological param- eters showed that there was scarce overlap among three populations. One-way ANOVA showed the significant difference (P=0.05) among three populations based on some variables and coefficients of difference. According to the Mayi's 75 % rule, the results indicated that the difference between two groups (Lidao, Dalian) and other group (Qingdao) was slightly different, which indicated that Lidao and Dalian populations were more closely re- lated each other than to Qingdao population.
