Since the book MashiWentong was published in 1898 , linguists have been exploring a suitable approach for the study of Chinese grammar , and constantly looking for Chinese grammar ’ standard .The word-based standard has occupied a central po-sition.In the 90＇s in twentieth century , XuTongqiang put forward a theory of Chinese grammar , which is based on the word-based standard .There have been a debate about the basic unit of the Chinese language .
