The mechanistic or mammalian target of rapamycin (roTOR) signahng pathway can integrate mumpie extracel- lular signals including nutrition, energy, growth factors and exercise to regulate numerous metabolic and physiological processes, such as gene transcription, protein translation, ribosome biogenesis and lipid homeostasis. This review ex- plores recent findings on the role of mTOR in lipid homeostasis, with an emphasis on lipolysis, lipogenesis, and adipogen- esis, also discusses the effects of exercise on mTOR. The purpose is to provide theoretical supports for future study on the effects of exercise on lipid homeostasis via mTOR, deepen understanding of lipid homeostasis related diseases, pro- mote more reasonable exercise prescriptions and targeted drug research and development.
