党的群众路线作为马克思主义与中国革命和社会主义建设具体实践紧密结合的产物,根植于中华大地,汲取了中华优秀传统文化的精华。民本思想作为中国优秀传统文化中"群众路线"智慧的集中表现,体现了重民、贵民、为民、裕民、从民、顺民、信民、畏民等重要理论,是党的群众路线的重要思想渊源。党的群众路线思想中的"相信、依靠、联系群众"观点、"实现群众利益"观点、"从群众中来,到群众中去"的工作方法和"受群众监督,对群众负责"的制度继承了传统民本思想的精髓;不仅如此,由于始终坚持依靠群众阶级的根本立场、维护人民群众的主体地位和立足于最广大人民群众的根本利益,党的群众路线思想由此在阶级立场、主体地位和利益取向上实现了对传统民本思想的本质性超越。
