Yu Hua describes night as dark,eerie,depressing,silent,sad and cold,nevertheless,the dark night in his writing is a delicately created imagery rather than simple description of natural surroundings.The paper explores Yu＇s meditation and contemplation of life under the imagery of darkness by comparing two imageries of dark night created in different periods of his writing career.
