On the Tragic Fate of Anne in The Island——Anne's Death from the Perspective of Freud Psychoanalysis

《岛》是现代英国著名女作家维多利亚·希普洛普的成名之作,小说采用倒叙的写作手法,向我们展现了20世纪中期,在麻风病肆虐下希腊普通民众的生存现状。其中安娜这一人物形象颇具争议。文章试图通过弗洛伊德的精神分析法,深度剖析安娜的内心世界,探讨"本我"、"自我"以及"超我"在安娜身上的体现,从而说明安娜的自我毁灭之路。

The Island is Victoria Hislop＇s first masterpiece which brought her great fame. With complicated plots and employment of flashback, the novel demonstrates the situation of Greek people in the middle 20 th century who fought hard against the fatal lepriasis, their death or life separation and their love or hatred. And among them, Anne is the most disputed character in this novel. Based on the theory of Freud psychoanalysis, this paper is trying to deeply analyze Anne＇s inner activity to discuss her ＂id＂, ＂ego＂ and ＂superego＂ and finally explain the reasons of Anne＇s self-destruction.
