To summarized the academic thoughts of professor SHI Qi in treating acute pain of ankylosing spondylitis.He believes that the block of phlegm,heat,blood stasis,poison are the important factors causing the pain.And he divides the pain symptoms into two types as heat-toxin or phlegm-blood stasis according to the laboratory examinations and clinical manifestations.Professor SHI considers the disease＇s insidious onset and lingering course,always with deficiency of liver and kidney,obstruction of qi and blood.Thus he believes that the therapeutic principle for this disease is promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis,then respectively with clearing away heat and toxic material or eliminating phlegm and freeing channels,combined tonifying the liver-kidney and qi-blood in clinical practice.At the same time,integrating with the research and analysis of modern science on symptoms＇ pathological mechanism and Chinese herbal medicines＇ active components,he applied of drugs more pertinently,which often receive an ideal effect.
