1957年至1959年,是中国图书馆事业发展上一个十分重要的历史阶段:正式确立了图书馆学科的地位,"一切为了读者"的口号得以确认,在为科学服务、为生产服务、为读者服务、干部下乡上山、实现图书馆事业的大跃进、民办图书馆、人民公社图书馆、人才培养、整风反右运动和对社会主义图书馆学的研究等工作与运动中,图书馆事业得到快速发展。这一阶段所产生的一些历史教训亦是深刻的,在以实际行动向国庆十周年献礼的进程中,历史跨向了60年代。

It was a very important historical stage in the development of Chinese librarianship from 1957 to 1959 when the discipline position of library science was formally established,the slogan of ＂ All for the readers＂ was confirmed,and librarianship developed rapidly by serving for scientific research,serving for production,serving for readers,cadres settling down in the countryside and mountain areas,realizing the Great Leap Forward for librarianship,running libraries by local people,running People＇s Commune libraries,developing talent,carrying on Rectification and Anti- Rightist Struggle and studying on socialist library science. The history lessons generated in this stage were also profound and then history entered to the 1960 s through the process of greeting the tenth anniversary of National Day with concrete actions.
