The present article compares ESP w ith ESL in an objective w ay and suggests that ESL should be transformed to ESP as soon as possible. ESP is based on students ＇ needs and both its teaching materials and teachers should be further improved. The students of ESP w ith specific aims had better make a feasible self design to acquire cross-culture and interdisciplinary effects. The graduates of ESP may play several crucial roles in the system engineering process of translation projects. ESP w ill develop to become one of the cradles for cultivating our internationalized and innovative foreign language talents.
