摘要
运用格奥尔格·卢卡奇的物化理论探讨了美国作家亨利·詹姆斯中期作品《波士顿人》中的物化现象。研究发现,美国内战后资本主义的快速发展给人们的精神生活带来了负面影响,传统意义上的亲情和友情被物化,这有助于了解美国内战后的社会精神面貌,对国内詹姆斯研究也是一个有益的补充。
Based on Georg Lukacs' s reification theory,this paper aims at exploring the phenomena of reification in Henry James' s mid-term w ork The Bostonians. The study finds that the rapid development of capitalism after the Civil War produced much negative influence on the American people's spiritual life and that the natural and traditional human relationships like kinship and friendship inevitably have been objectified. Our w ork w ill contribute to understanding the postbellum social spiritual outlook in America,w hich is also a complement to Henry James studies at home.
